Youth Development Co-Ordinator
30 hours/ week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work alongside Change Makers staff to accomplish identified goals

• Work with youth to help se​cure and maintain housing

• Conduct interviews and intake forms to assess youths' strengths and identify needs

• Assist youth in transitional housing with their life skills, house responsibilities, and goals

• Connect youth (young adults) with housing opportunities, build relationships with landlords

• Deliver basic literacy / life skills workshops (goal setting, budgeting, food prep, tax filing)

• Act as a mentor, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

• Ensure youth have necessary resources to achieve their goals (furniture, computers, income)

• Connect youth with income supports, educational and employment opportunities

• Maintain progress reports and statistics for purposes of reporting, evaluation and research

• Abide by all Policies and Procedures, help maintain site cleanliness and safety

• Additional responsibilities as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; fluent in English

• Must undertake a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment

• Excellent computer skills: MS Teams, MS office suite, e-mail, web applications, zoom, social

media

empowerment or community development

Raven Tale Revival Storytelling

Youth Service Project Coordinator

30 hours a week


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and coordinate meaningful programming for young adults in our community

• Recruit, supervise and mentor youth participating in the project

• Help maintain website and blog and update social media accounts

• Administration, filing, reporting, and data management

• Coordinate storytelling, theatre and documentary filming events and activities

• Act as a mentor, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

• Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers and elders to support the program

• General housekeeping tasks: sweeping, vacuuming, organizing, recycling, composting and cleaning to maintain site cleanliness

• Adhere to COVID-19 protocols and abide by all policies and procedures Work alongside Raven Tale Revival Coordinator and senior staff to accomplish identified goals


QUALIFICATIONS:

•Legally entitled to work in Canada, between 16 and 30 years of age, and a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or have refugee status in Canada.

• Understand and appreciate the Indigenous experience and Canada’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

• Knowledge of our local First Nations cultures and history and an understanding of how these unique cultures have been impacted by colonialism

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; fluent in English, knowledge of other languages an asset

• Strong leadership, organizational and time-management skills

• Ability to plan, coordinate, inspire and take initiative

• Confident with a positive attitude and effective interpersonal skills

• Excellent time-management skills and ability to work under pressure

Canada Summer Job: Youth Service Worker

30 hours/ week for 16 weeks

(possibility to join the team once summer position ends!)


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engage youth and young adults in meaningful programming and promote volunteer opportunities for community engagement

• Work alongside our videographer and theatre facilitator to encourage youth and young adults to communicate their hopes, dreams, struggles and fears through writing, storytelling, video, theatre and art

• Answer the phone, respond to email inquiries, complete filing, and administrative tasks, conduct client intakes and maintain files

• Work alongside senior staff to accomplish identified goals

• Liaison with neighbourhood, community groups and partners to identify learner needs

• Help develop marketing and promotional material to recruit participants and communicate the objectives and milestones of our programs

• Participate in our digital communication strategy by helping update our website blog, Facebook and Instagram accounts

• Organize in person and virtual events that promote literacy, deliver literacy programs that we have developed

• Participate in outreach activities in person and by creating virtual submissions

• Provide assistance and tutoring with reading, writing, communication, planning, math & digital literacy and or connecting youth with community mentors and volunteers able to assist them
