Summer Student Job Postings: Change Makers Office Manager

35 hours/ week for 8 weeks $18 an hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside staff to accomplish identified goals
  • Develop marketing and promotional material to communicate with the public
  • Help with scheduling, planning, and bookkeeping tasks
  • Answer the phone and complete filing and administrative tasks as needed
  • Act as a mentor, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Welcome and greet people who come into the center and let them know about our daily activities
  • Follow protocols and enforce rules as needed
  • Help maintain website and blog, update, and post to social media
  • Organize events, promote literacy, and participate in fundraising activities
  • General housekeeping tasks: sweeping, vacuuming, organizing, sanitizing, and cleaning site
  • Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Full-time returning student
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada, between 16 and 30 years of age, and a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or have refugee status in Canada.
  •  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; fluent in English
  • Must undertake a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment
  • Excellent computer skills: MS office suite, e-mail, web applications and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud

30 hours/ week for 9 weeks $18 an hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work under the guidance of senior staff to accomplish identified goals
  • Liaison with neighbourhood, community groups and partners to connect with youth and identify learner needs
  • Conduct community outreach questionnaires and surveys to inform and develop programming
  • Distribute marketing and promotional material to communicate the objectives of the program
  • Provide literacy support: reading, writing, communication, planning, math & digital literacy
  • Answer the phone and complete filing and administrative tasks as needed
  • Act as a mentor, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Follow protocols and enforce rules as needed
  • Help maintain website and blog, update, and post to social media
  • Organize events, promote literacy, and participate in fundraising activities

Summer Student Job Postings: Youth Development Co-Ordinator

30 hours/ week, for 9 weeks at $18 an hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside Change Makers staff to accomplish identified goals
  • Liaison with neighbourhood, community groups and partners to identify youth needing support
  • Conduct intake questionnaires to assess youths' strengths and identify their needs
  • Connect youth (young adults) with secure housing, build relationships with landlords
  • Deliver basic literacy / life skills workshops (goal setting, budgeting, food prep, tax filing)
  • Act as a mentor, maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Ensure youth have necessary resource
  • Connect youth with income supports, educational and employment opportunities
  • Maintain program statistics for purposes of reporting, evaluation and research
  • Organize events, promote literacy, and participate in fundraising activities
  • General housekeeping tasks: sweeping, vacuuming, organizing, sanitizing, and cleaning site

30 hours / week $18 an hour for 9 weeks

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and coordinate meaningful programming for young adults in our community
  • Recruit, supervise and mentor youth volunteers participating in the project
  • Help maintain website and blog and update social media accounts
  •  Administration, filing, reporting, and data management to track participation
  • Coordinate activities with mentors
  • Work alongside our senior staff to identify and address needs
  • Maintain the cleanliness of our centers and abide by policies in place
  • Other duties as assigned
